On Atlas' Shoulders

48 Atlas was created to condense a detailed overview of every NBA franchise into a single publication ahead of the 2021–22 season. The material needed to accommodate long-form analysis, roster information, offseason moves, salary figures and other team data without turning 140 pages into a cumbersome reading experience.

Beyond the editorial scale, there was also a navigation challenge: making such a large digital almanac work as a non-linear publication, allowing readers to quickly reach the conference, division or franchise they wanted to explore.

I developed the almanac's graphic design as an editorial system capable of accommodating very different kinds of content within a consistent visual language. Each franchise received a structured presentation for rosters, arrivals and departures, salary situation, individual highlights and editorial analysis while maintaining visual unity across the publication.

To make consultation easier, the publication was built with buttons and internal hyperlinks connecting the index, conferences, divisions, franchises and return navigation. Alongside the design work, I also contributed editorially by writing the Atlanta Hawks analysis.

The result was a 140-page digital almanac bringing together Podcast 48's collective work on all 30 NBA franchises in a single experience. Its navigation system allowed the publication to work both as sequential reading and as a reference guide throughout the season.

The project is an important milestone in my career because it brought together two areas that would become increasingly central to my work: basketball expertise and the visual organization of complex information. It also consolidated my editorial design work within 48, directly connected to my background and experience as a journalist.

I was responsible for the almanac's graphic design and for building the visual system applied across its 140 pages, including the organization of each franchise's information and the internal navigation through buttons and hyperlinks. I also contributed as a journalist, writing the Atlanta Hawks analysis.
